Weekly Photo Challenge: Fifty Shades of Pink – Well, Kind Of

For this week’s photo challenge of PINK, I decided to turn my attention – and in turn my iPhone camera – to the abundance of Crepe Myrtles in Oklahoma. I’m not sure if it was because of all the rain or the cooler than normal temps this past summer (don’t worry, August is making up for it), but the crepe myrtles are exceptionally beautiful this year and the blooms seem to be going on and on! So naturally, I wanted to capture all the wonderful colors that Oklahoma has to offer in this particular flowering bush/tree. There are two that don’t actually fit the category, the white and red ones, but I couldn’t leave them out as they are my favorites! Some images are just as God intended them, but a view have been pinked with the help of HD and Photoshop!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

What could be fresher than flowers after a summer rain? These were taken with my every handy iPhone using Camera+. (I do have a new camera, I just don’t have a card for it yet ran out of money)

Day At A Floral Warehouse

I’ve just recently discovered the advantage of going to nurseries and florist warehouses to take shots of beautiful flowers. Its fun, its convenient (they are all in one place) and if you don’t get run off, you get some awesome images. Here are a few (alas, still taken with my iPhone) at a place that specialized in orchids and bromeliads.

I know this one looks over saturated, but honestly, this was its genuine color!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Curves 1

It has been a while since I’ve done a weekly challenge. First the photo a day exercise I completed in May took a lot of my time and second, my camera is still in the shop! I don’t really like any of my spares (which is why they are spares), so I’ve been kind of being lazy on the creative front. Thirdly, I’ve gotten way too comfortable relying on my camera phone to worry about taking my spare with me everywhere.

That being said, this image is one I took with my iPhone one day while leaving a garage sale. I just realized yesterday, that the shape of this tree trunk resembles the backside of two people either dancing or embracing!

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 31 In My Hand

I did it; I completed the entire month of photo challenges! I know I complained a lot, and I also know I didn’t apply myself that well (a missing camera kind of sucks the fun out of things), but I’m glad I did it. Two reasons: 1. It got me in the habit of thinking about and shooting again, and 2. It helped me to become a more daily blogger. Β I’m not sure if I will continue or if other things in life will steel my time, but it has been fun.

So, without further ramblings, here is my final entry – anyone know of a challenge for next month?

Day 31: In My Hand Because of all the rain (and the inability to be able to mow, my clovers grew to enormous proportions! I wasn't patient enough (or had the time) to look for a four-leaf variety, but my grandson found one last week. :-)

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 30 Rug

Okay, I’ve mentioned on more than a few occasions how much I dislike these categories, especially that last few days. Its like the creator of this challenge ran out of interesting ideas. Anyway today was “RUG.” I’ve taken some license with this one and shot a portion of the largest “rug” on my place – part of my yard. πŸ™‚ Β Hey I spend more time on it than I do my carpets! When I was mowing what was still not under water, I ran into this pretty little guy and mowed around it, so I could come back later and take its picture. πŸ™‚

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 25 A Tool I Use

Day 25: A Tool I Use Like many of my blogging friends, the tool(s) I use the most is my camera and my computer. But how to show that without being boring. A simple answer reflection. I captured my Mac's keyboard in the lens. This is not my real camera, as it is still in the shop, but this old relic was my first professional digital camera. Taken with my iPhone using Camera+

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 15 Outdoors

For the remainder of the month (and who knows how long) my submissions will be from my iPhone as my camera was damaged in the auto wreck I was in last week! I don’t know if it can be repaired, but I’m without a way to work for a while unless I rent! Β  πŸ˜›

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 11 Sunset

Wishing all of you moms (and mums) a VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Day 11: Sunset. I shot this as I was locked in an AT&T store trying to get my iPhone fixed - hence the reflection on the glass. At my home, there are too many trees to ever get to see a beautiful sunset! This was taken in Oklahoma City.
