May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 31 In My Hand

I did it; I completed the entire month of photo challenges! I know I complained a lot, and I also know I didn’t apply myself that well (a missing camera kind of sucks the fun out of things), but I’m glad I did it. Two reasons: 1. It got me in the habit of thinking about and shooting again, and 2. It helped me to become a more daily blogger. Β I’m not sure if I will continue or if other things in life will steel my time, but it has been fun.

So, without further ramblings, here is my final entry – anyone know of a challenge for next month?

Day 31: In My Hand Because of all the rain (and the inability to be able to mow, my clovers grew to enormous proportions! I wasn't patient enough (or had the time) to look for a four-leaf variety, but my grandson found one last week. :-)

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 30 Rug

Okay, I’ve mentioned on more than a few occasions how much I dislike these categories, especially that last few days. Its like the creator of this challenge ran out of interesting ideas. Anyway today was “RUG.” I’ve taken some license with this one and shot a portion of the largest “rug” on my place – part of my yard. πŸ™‚ Β Hey I spend more time on it than I do my carpets! When I was mowing what was still not under water, I ran into this pretty little guy and mowed around it, so I could come back later and take its picture. πŸ™‚

Day 30: Rug This pretty little toadstool was thriving on the largest rug I own, my yard!

Day 30: Rug Dirt on top; I don't know where the dirt on top of the toadstool came from, perhaps from a visiting toad with a dirty bottom! All images shot with iPhone and Camera+

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 29 A Piece of Furniture

Today’s challenge seemed a bit lame to me, and seeing how I’m still without my good camera (you know they sent it to Japan to be fixed?), I dug into my archives for an outdoor concrete bench. I shot this image in Mexico and was intrigued by the shape of it – it was in the courting style. I was also struck by the graffiti painted on this lovely piece. I was part of a tour and only had a moment to snap this image, but I didn’t want to forget it.

Why do people feel the need to deface things of beauty? It makes me mad and a bit sad. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my take on furniture. πŸ™‚

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 25 A Tool I Use

Day 25: A Tool I Use Like many of my blogging friends, the tool(s) I use the most is my camera and my computer. But how to show that without being boring. A simple answer reflection. I captured my Mac's keyboard in the lens. This is not my real camera, as it is still in the shop, but this old relic was my first professional digital camera. Taken with my iPhone using Camera+

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 23 Funny

Yesterday’s (yeah, I’m a day behind again) challenge was supposed to be SCARY. After all the storms, I’m tired of scary so I changed my challenge to FUNNY! I shared in another post (https://dwelchel.wordpress.com/2013/05/23/as-if-tornados-werent-enough/) about my flooding yard. This is how I deal with it! Have a beautiful and storm free day!

Day 23: Funny I used to have a sign that read Lake Welchel, Posted. This is my new one, because of every manner of water creatures who take up inhabitance when we get a small lake in our front yard.

This is why I need the sign after every heavy rainstorm. :-)

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 22 Fragile

Day 22: Fragile This is a tea set passed down from my mother, from her mother, from my great-great grandmother. The cup is so thin and light, that I fear to handle it. I can't imagine ever drinking a hot liquid from it. It has a iridescent glaze on it.

May Photo-a-day Challenge: Day 21 Up High

What could be higher than clouds? Although these – that I shot this morning – are far too close to the ground for my taste considering the deadly tornados that his our area yesterday.

Day 21: Up High I've seen a lot of strange looking clouds during tornado season, but these are very different. - almost like an upside down crumpled blanket!
